Phantasy Star Offline is a project where my goal is to complete Ver.2 on Dreamcast solo. Read about why here and week one here.
Thursday
Hit my first somewhat frustrating point in the game so far. There is a quest where I had to escort a robot through the caves to reach a computer. Unfortunately, this robot has a tendency to wander off and get killed. When it gets killed, you are taken out of the caves, back to the Hunter’s Guild, and forced to restart the quest. So far, this has happened to me twice, once after about 15 minutes, and again at around 20 minutes. I was still getting items and experience, but it was still frustrating regardless.
Friday
I didn’t play because I went to a ska show. Look, I don’t judge you.
Saturday
Tried the quest again, got up to De Rol Le, who proceeded to kill the robot within 20 seconds of the battle. You know what? Screw this robot and his research.
I continued into the mines sans quest, eventually reaching Vol Opt. I managed to easily defeat both forms in less than 10 minutes.
Now, onto the somewhat tedious process of unlocking the ruins.
Sunday
I tracked down and activated the three monoliths in Forest 2, Caves 2, and Mines 2 (and re-fought Vol Opt, who was again, a pushover) to unlock the ruins. Took maybe an hour?
Monday
HOLY CRAP the ruins enemies are tough. I grinded (ground?) to level 24. I feel like I’m going to have to do quite a bit more before I’m ready for the last boss. I’m feeling a bit hopeless and fatigued. May take a break.
Read Week 3 here!
Escort missions are seldom fun. Reading this makes me wish that they would localise Phantasy Star Online 2.
